October 21, 1939 ~ June 17, 2018

Virginia (Ginger) Power Smith passed away on Sunday June 17, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Lola Ross Power and Austin Power. Ginger leaves behind her brother James Power and his partner Dan Hastings and her children Tracey (Smith) Kirk and Bradley W. Smith.

She was mother-in-law to Gregg Kirk and Heike Smith. Ginger was the proud grandmother to Ryan P. Smith, Cameron O. Smith, and Carly L. Kirk

Ginger was born in Brooklyn, NY October 21, 1939. She graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan in 1961 with a B.A. in Education, where she was the homecoming queen.

Ginger enjoyed a 30-year career as a school teacher and taught second grade in the Freehold Township (NJ) School system, where she was loved by all of her students.

After retirement, she relocated to Norwalk, CT in 2004 to be with her daughter, son in-law and granddaughter.

Aside from spending as much time as she could with her granddaughter, she actively took classes at Norwalk Community College.

She was big hearted, always helped others, and generously donated to many foundations and charities.
